Mobile Application Developer

The Garrigan Lyman Group (GLG) is looking for an exceptional mobile app developer to build data-driven mobile apps for our high-profile clients. You’ll be learning and growing with us in a fast-paced environment and working with a plethora of libraries, languages, and platforms to build beautiful work for our clients every day. Sound like fun? We would love to meet you!

Here’s what success will look like:

  • You’re immediately handling multiple tickets and tasks a day and collaborating closely with the project team. You’re diving in to fully understand the project, and you’re completing work on time within the allocated timeframe. You are a strong voice in the process of designing the solution. Meanwhile, you’re nimble and moving between environments like Visual Studio, Unity Framework, Xamarin, Eclipse, and others without missing a beat.
  • You align to our coding standards, communicate and collaborate with other developers, and help to foster a learning environment on the development team. Your work is clean, intuitive, and documented and could easily be handed off to other developers to take over when necessary.
  • You are unafraid to ask questions and seek help when necessary. You, in turn, are willing to help others when the need arises. You quickly elevate issues and ensure that you communicate all necessary information in order to resolve matters quickly.
  • You’re taking the interactive prototypes, Photoshop PSD files, and other assets generated by the user experience and creative teams and expertly transforming them into dynamic, fast, optimized web and mobile apps.
  • You’re creating these apps in an extensible framework such as Xamarin, Unity, or Apache Cordova to streamline codebase management between platforms. You’re creating a codebase that is scalable and can support new features and new data sources as it evolves. You are a proficient C# (or other object-oriented framework) developer with experience developing mobile apps using the Xamarin, Unity, or Cordova framework for mobile. Experience with Unity 2D mobile app development is a plus.
  • You have the ability to adapt your C# and Xamarin skills to learn the Unity 2D platform and be up and running on Unity 2D within three to four weeks of ramp-up time and project knowledge transfer.
  • You have experience with SOAP web services for use in parsing product catalog data and using that data in rendering mobile app display based on user input.
  • You have a firm grasp of the quality standards and processes to roll apps and app updates into the iOS and Google Play app stores.
  • You’re completing all administrative tasks in a timely manner, including but not limited to filling out your timecards, reading and responding to email, showing up to meetings on time, being present and focused in collaborative efforts, taking notes, and giving feedback.
  • Within months, you’re a proactive team member who digs into technology, finds new tools and cutting-edge ways of doing things, and keeps up with the latest and greatest technology trends. You’re a subject expert on JavaScript frameworks, and you know the fundamentals of back end technologies. All along, you’ll be sharing what you know with all of us.
  • You should have expert-level understanding of mobile development on any of the platforms mentioned above (Xamarin, Unity, Cordova), a strong programming base in .NET C# or a comparable framework, and experience building great mobile experiences in both iOS and Android that are managed through a single codebase. We’d like you to have experience in working with web services for data display within the apps. A mobile app development background with three to five years of experience and multiple frameworks will help you get up to speed quickly, and a four-year college degree will show us you have the technical foundation to be successful.
