Account Manager (Digital)

General Description

An account manager with The Garrigan Lyman Group (GLG) oversees the delivery of a quality product and provides concierge-level client service to one or more assigned accounts within the agency. The account manager actively provides solutions to clients’ business problems via tactical delivery and strategic planning (in partnership with other GLG team members as necessary). The account manager also manages revenue and profitability for assigned accounts. The account manager role requires some flexibility with hours and potential travel to meet client needs.  Digital agency experience preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Manages and/or participates in the delivery of quality digital marketing services to clients
  • Ensures satisfactory project outcomes by communicating with project managers and other internal and external staff and suppliers
  • Analyzes client needs and develops recommendations to fulfill those needs and/or solve business problems
  • Works closely with, and sometimes manages, internal resources to provide full-service support for accounts as needed
  • Acts as a point of escalation for client- and/or account-specific concerns and issues
  • Translates client needs into proposals, statements of work, and proactive pitches
  • Works closely with group account director to identify areas of opportunity and/or growth within existing accounts and develops a tactical plan to target those areas
  • Writes statements of work and proposals as needed; participates in pricing and budgeting to accompany statements of work as needed
  • Maintains and strengthens existing relationships within accounts
  • Seeks to gather subject matter expertise in assigned accounts category/industry/vertical to inform daily account duties and provide GLG team members with information as appropriate
  • Establishes account-specific project processes and auditing processes based on clients’ needs
  • Defines and delegates responsibilities to appropriate staff, as well as coaches and motivates staff members
  • Manages specific portions of the account budget and reconciles revenue with profitability
  • Distills complex technical processes and ideas into actionable engagements between the client and the agency
  • Performs administrative duties related to project work as needed

Job Skills

  • Ability to oversee tactical delivery while also providing strategic counsel to clients as appropriate
  • Ability to identify new opportunities through existing relationships throughout the client organization
  • Strong knowledge of digital advertising and marketing techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication with experience in writing business correspondence, especially development of statements of work and proposals
  • Ability to nurture relationships with clients, providers, team members, management, and other contacts
  • Ability to understand the scope and execution of digital projects
  • Strong ability to influence and expedite decision processing by clients and management
  • High comfort level working with technical resources
  • Ability to occasionally provide support during non-business hours, as required by the client

Knowledge Requirements (Education/Experience)

This position requires six or more years of related experience in marketing, project, or account management or the equivalent. A four-year degree with a marketing, sales, or business orientation is typically expected.
